Discover the powerful rhythms, expressive movements, and uplifting energy of Bhangra.
This energetic dance originated in Punjab as a celebration of the harvest season, bringing together rhythm, strength, joy, and collective movement.
During this accessible workshop, Saleha Q invites you to experience your body in a dynamic and empowered way. Through energetic movements and rhythmic combinations, participants will activate the whole body while enjoying the shared energy of the group.
Saleha Q is a regenerative health practitioner and musician with a background in oncology, yoga, calisthenics, Bollywood, hip-hop, modern dance, and other movement practices. After nearly a decade of nomadic living, she brings together influences learned from different cultures and from nature around the world.
No previous dance experience is required. Expect a full-body workout, explosive energy, and plenty of smiles.

🎸 19:00 – 20:30 | Live Music | Soul Jam with @saleha007
Let yourself be carried away by a warm acoustic set featuring original songs, musical influences from different cultures, and space for spontaneous improvisation.
Saleha Q is a travelling musician who brings influences from the cultures, landscapes, and communities she encounters into her uplifting acoustic sound.
Raised with the colourful influence of Bollywood, she has expressed herself through dance, acting, painting, and music. In recent years, her focus has increasingly shifted towards songwriting with her five-string ukulele, guitar, and voice.
During Soul Jam with Saleha Q, original songs, personal stories, and other musical influences come together in a live acoustic performance that moves between prepared material and moments created spontaneously in the room.
During an interactive part of the evening, the audience will also be invited to become part of the music through rhythm, sound, voice, and shared improvisation.

🧉 20:30 – 23:00 | Drinking Maté | Exchange of Inspiration
Slow down and close the evening together with maté, conversations, and spontaneous encounters.
The formal programme gradually gives way to an open social space where visitors, artists, and participants can meet, reflect, and share what they experienced throughout the day.
Perhaps a workshop sparked an idea that deserves to grow. Perhaps a movement, story, or song opened a conversation that continues later in the evening. This is the space to exchange thoughts, ask questions, meet the artists behind the programme, or simply listen.
The shared ritual of preparing, drinking, and passing maté slows down the rhythm of the night and invites people to remain present with one another.
An open space for reflection, connection, new stories, and collaborations that may emerge naturally.

The logline:
This documentary portrays Fatime, Sha’am, and Anas as they navigate their integration journey. It explores their search for identity in a foreign land and the feeling of being seen not as a person but as a file. Through three stages; denial, waiting, and rooting, they ask: can you truly take root elsewhere when the ground seems to reject you?
The statement:
How can roots that have been violently uprooted take hold again in foreign soil?
How can you feel at home in a new country when the memory of your first encounter still aches?
And how can you grow new roots in a land that took part in the uprooting of your own?
Draw Me a Homeland takes you aboard a “lucky” refugee boat that arrives on the shores of European integration programs, a film about roots longing for soil to embrace them. Will they ever find it? Or is their longing, as refugees in this country, as fragile and distant as a dream?
From the denial of what happened to you, to the moment when the numbness begins to fade, you’re left waiting, surrounded by a sea of questions, endless paperwork, and a constant sense of not yet.
This film explores that no man’s land in between: not here, not there. The struggle to take root in new ground while the old soil still pulls you back and the new one keeps spitting you out. Integration often feels like something placed entirely on you: being reborn in a system where the pointing fingers hold the power to make you feel at home, yet choose not to.

And before we knew it…

there was something for everyone.
A quiet corner in the middle of it all
holding a whole world inside.

كان في قصص، لغة، وحنين صغير بين الصفحات.
من أدب لكتب أطفال…
وكل حدا كان عم يلاقي الشي القريب منه
زاوية هادية بنص كل هالطاقة
بس فيها عالم كامل لحاله.
Meer dan alleen boeken…
verhalen, taal en een gevoel van thuis.
Van literatuur tot kinderboeken
er was voor iedereen iets te vinden.
Een rustige plek in het midden van alles
met een hele wereld erin.

No rules…
not even clear boundaries
Body, sound, movement, music
all blending into one.
People exploring, reacting, creating in the moment
without thinking about what’s “right”.
And then it turned into a jam…
everything spontaneous, raw, and alive.
No experience needed
just show up 😉
ما كان في قواعد…
ولا حتى حدود واضحة
جسد، صوت، حركة، موسيقى…
وكل شي عم يندمج سوا بدون ما حدا يفكر “شو الصح”.
ناس عم تجرب، عم تتحرك، عم تطلع شي من جوّا
وكل لحظة كانت عم تولد لحظة جديدة.
وبعدين؟
كل هاد تحوّل لجلسة jam…
كل شي صار عفوي، حي، وبهاللحظة بالذات.
ما بدك خبرة…
بس بدك تكون موجود 😉
Geen regels…
zelfs geen duidelijke grenzen
Lichaam, geluid, beweging, muziek
alles liep in elkaar over.
Mensen die experimenteren, reageren en creëren in het moment
zonder na te denken over wat “juist” is.
Daarna ging het over in een jam
spontaan, rauw en levend.
Geen ervaring nodig

“Ontmoeting van Woorden” at Maté Nacht 📚

It wasn’t just about words…
it was about being heard.
People spoke, others listened
and something real started to happen.
Stories, silence, emotions in between
all finding their way out.
Everyone carries a story…
and here, some finally had space to be told.
What happened? It was real 😌
and this is only the beginning.
مو بس حكي…
كان في ناس عم تحكي وناس عم تسمع… ولأول مرة يمكن حدا عم ينسمع عنجد.
قصص، لحظات صمت، وكلمات طالعة من جوّا
كل واحد إلو حكاية…
وهون، في حكايات أخدت وقتها.
واللي صار؟ كان حقيقي
والجايات… لساتها بالطريق.
Het ging niet alleen om woorden…
maar om echt gehoord worden.
Mensen spraken, anderen luisterden
en er ontstond iets echts.
Verhalen, stiltes, emoties ertussenin
die eindelijk ruimte kregen.
Iedereen draagt een verhaal…
en hier mochten sommige eindelijk verteld worden.
Wat hier gebeurde? Dat was echt 😌
en dit is nog maar het begin.
Our very first workshop at @matenacht … “Creating in the Klieder” by @sterros____________ .. and it started exactly how it should 🎨
“Creating in the Klieder” wasn’t just about drawing, it was about letting go.
Letting go of what’s “correct”, “clean”, or “beautiful”.
People sat down, experimented, made a mess… and somehow, that’s where the magic happened.
Colors, textures, random ideas turning into something real
without pressure, without expectations.
Honestly?
If you think you “can’t draw”… this is probably where you’d prove yourself wrong.
And this? Just the beginning 😉
Don’t be the one saying “I wish I was there” next time.
“Creating in the Klieder” ما كانت بس وركشوب رسم… كانت مساحة ننسى فيها شوي فكرة إنو لازم كل شي يطلع “مرتب” أو “صح”.
الناس قعدت، لعبت، جرّبت
ألوان، ورق، أفكار عم تطلع بدون تفكير زيادة…
وكل واحد كان عم يعمل شي بطريقته، بدون قوانين، بدون ضغط.
باختصار؟
إذا كنت مفكر حالك “ما بتعرف ترسم”… غالباً كنت رح تكتشف العكس بهالساعة.
واللي صار هون… هو بس البداية 😉
الجايات أقوى، فلا تكونوا من الناس يلي بيقولوا “يا ريت كنت موجود”.

STEREOTYPE || Highlights from the Interactive Performance
“Stereotype” is an interactive performance where the body becomes a battlefield for identity.
A confrontation between how we see ourselves, and how others decide to see us.
Between the image imposed on the body, and the truth that tries to escape it.
In this work, the gaze is not passive.
It wounds, shapes, controls, diminishes, amplifies, or liberates.
Every look becomes an action. Every silence becomes a decision.
The audience is not watching… they are participating in the construction and destruction of the performer.

“Stereotype” is an interactive performance where the body becomes a battlefield for identity.
A confrontation between how we see ourselves, and how others decide to see us.
Between the image imposed on the body, and the truth that tries to escape it.
In this work, the gaze is not passive.
It wounds, shapes, controls, diminishes, amplifies, or liberates.
Every look becomes an action. Every silence becomes a decision.
The audience is not watching… they are participating in the construction and destruction of the performer.

Behind these photos is a room full of movement, hesitation, laughter, and discovery.
We entered as strangers and slowly became a space of trust, expression, and courage.
Acting opened the door to presence, to listening, to reacting, and to breathing deeply.
These frames were taken inside the acting workshops @younity.utrecht Urban Talents
A place where we learned from each other stood back up after falling
and discovered parts of ourselves we had not seen before
The people in these photos are not just talents; they are skilled, thoughtful performers with presence, heart, and identity. Each one carries something unique; each one deserves to be seen, remembered, and followed. Support their work, follow their art, because what is coming is bigger and more beautiful.

Somewhere between light and shadow,
two figures stand, silent, unmasked.
Between them: only a gaze, a distance, a breath suspended in air.
Do we see others as they are...
or as we wish them to be?
In a performance that defies traditional theatre,
the space between the eyes and the body becomes a field of revelation,
a mirror where each of us might see ourselves.
Everything that happens here is real,
but no one knows what will happen next.

"Flashbacks" is the original soundtrack inspired by the short experimental theatrical film that portrays human memory in times of war, how the same stories keep repeating with different names, faces, and places.
The work connects two profound symbols: Handala - created by Naji Al-Ali as an emblem of Palestinian identity, and A’ajaf - a character born in 2011 by @ali_taifour during the Syrian war, embodying hope amid destruction.
Through a sequence of evocative scenes, real war sounds, and musical compositions born from the wars in Syria and Palestine, the piece explores the conflict between memory and conscience.
It stands as a visual and sonic reflection on power, loss, and the long-awaited rebirth of the Levant.
